Protective effects of methylprednisolone in kidney: aortic occlusion-reperfusion model in rats

چکیده
Objectives: Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is commonly seen in cardiovascular surgery, activates inflammation and causes renal damage. In this experimental study, we aimed to assess the effects of different doses (5 30 mg/kg) methylprednisolone (MP), which has anti-inflammatory effect, on ischemia/reperfusion injury. Methods: Thirty-two male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 8). The sham group underwent midline laparotomy dissection abdominal aorta without occlusion while I/R suprarenal aortic ischemia for 45 minutes followed by 180 reperfusion. 5 mg/kg MP groups, was administered intraperitoneally. At end experiment, blood samples obtained, kidneys extracted. Results: Pretreatment with did not influence serum BUN creatinine levels. Serum TNF-α levels ischemia-modified albumin significantly lower compared (p < 0.05). Histological examination demonstrated severe treatment attenuated severity. difference significant MP. Conclusions: This results model presented work reveal protective cases I/R.

Protective effects of vitamin D on ischemia-reperfusion injury of the ovary in a rat model
Objective(s): The aim of the present study is to investigate probable acute effects of vitamin D on ischemia-reperfusion injury in the rat ovary.Materials and Methods: A group of 30 Wistar albino rats was divided into five groups of 6 each. Group 1: underwent laparotomy only and the ovaries were removed. Group 2: 3-hr ischemia followed by excision of the ovaries. Group 3: 3-hr ischemia and 3...

Objective(s): This study investigated the protective effect of tanshinone IIA sodium sulfonate (TSS) on ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) induced cardiac injury, and the underlying mechanism of action. Materials and Methods:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to a 30-min coronary arterial occlusion followed by 24 hours' reperfusion. Half an hour before the left coronary artery ligation, rats were ...

Objective(s): There is increasing evidence for the importance of gender in different diseases; however, the role of gender in response to treatments is still unknown. Therefore, this study investigated the impact of gender on the protective effects of celecoxib in ischemia reperfusion (IR)-induced acute kidney injury.Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, rats were randomly divided ...
